Egypt and Saudi Arabia Sign MoU for Oil, Gas, and Petrochemicals
Egyptian Minister of Petroleum Karim Badawi and Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman signed a memorandum of understanding in Riyadh covering oil, gas, petrochemicals, and petroleum products trading.

Egyptian Minister of Petroleum Karim Badawi and Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to expand cooperation in the oil and gas sector on the sidelines of the 17th Ministerial Meeting of the International Energy Forum in Riyadh, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum via "Egypt Oil & Gas".
The MoU covers cooperation in oil, gas, petrochemicals, and the trading of petroleum products between the two countries.
The new memorandum builds on a previous MoU dating back to 2022 and comes within the framework of the $3 billion electricity interconnection project between the two nations.
The step reflects both countries' drive to expand energy sector cooperation, including exchanging expertise and opening new avenues for sector companies in both the Egyptian and Saudi markets.
What Do These Terms Mean?
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU): A legally non-binding document outlining intentions for cooperation between two parties and framing a joint working structure.
International Energy Forum: A dialogue platform bringing together energy-producing and consuming nations to discuss global energy market issues.
Electrical Interconnection: Projects that transmit electricity between countries via interconnection lines, enabling the exchange of surplus power and reducing the need for additional power plants.
