Satlyt Raises $8 Million to Run AI on Satlytes

US-based startup Satlyt raised $8 million in a seed funding round led by Non Sibi Ventures, according to TechCrunch.

The company was founded by Rama Afullo, a former product manager at Google Cloud and SpaceX's Starlink service, giving it expertise that combines cloud technology and the satellite sector.

Telkom, Antler, and Launch Africa Ventures participated in the round. The company is headquartered in Sunnyvale, with a regional base in Nairobi.

Satlyt is working on a software layer that allows AI models to run on satellites owned by different operators, which could reduce the need to send all data back to Earth for processing.

What Do These Terms Mean?

AI Models: Programs trained on massive datasets to analyze information, generate outputs, or make decisions.
