Google Launches Gemini 4 Argon Globally at $2 per Million Tokens

Google announced the global launch of its new Gemini 4 Argon model on October 13, 2026, stating that the model is available on the same day via the Gemini API, the Google Antigravity programming platform, the Gemini app, and AI mode in Search.

The company set an introductory price for the model at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, according to its official blog post.

Google stated that the model ranks first on the Vals Index, and that it recorded internal engineering gains including a 35% increase in agent-based code contributions and a 2.85x speedup in inference over the Gemma 4 E2B model.

This launch marks a new step in the fierce competition over advanced models, as service providers aim to lower prices while enhancing the capabilities of intelligent agents executing multi-step tasks.

What do these terms mean?

Token: The smallest unit of text processed by an AI model, which may be a word or part of a word, with pricing calculated based on their count.

Inference: The process of using a trained model to answer a question or execute a task, representing the stage in which the model operates after training.

API: A technical channel that allows developers and software to use the model's services within their applications.

AI Agent: A program that relies on artificial intelligence to execute a sequence of steps and tasks semi-autonomously.
