SpaceX Agrees to Testify Before NYC Council in AI Safety Investigation
SpaceX agreed to testify before the New York City Council's Technology Committee on Friday following a subpoena and an absence from an October 5 hearing, while its stock fell nearly 4% to $156.87.

SpaceX has agreed to appear and testify before the Technology Committee of the New York City Council on Friday in an investigation into AI safety risks, as reported by Yahoo Finance. The agreement came after a subpoena issued by the Council to the company on September 28.
The company had missed a hearing held by the Council on October 5, which included representatives from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and Meta, an absence that prompted the Council to threaten legal enforcement to compel the company's attendance.
SpaceX's stock fell nearly 4% to reach $156.87, according to the same source, as the AI safety file emerged as a pressuring factor on the company's shares alongside broader concerns in the tech sector.
The New York investigation comes amid an expanding regulatory wave across U.S. cities and states, surrounded by rising questions regarding the limits of tech companies' liability when damages occur related to the AI systems they build or use.
