General Compute Raises $100 Million at $800 Million Valuation
General Compute has raised $100 million in a Series A round, reaching an $800 million valuation, and is building its cloud on inference chips from Nvidia rivals.

General Compute has raised $100 million in a Series A funding round led by Blackbird Ventures and Abstract Ventures, after being valued at $60 million following a seed round in May, reaching a post-money valuation of $800 million, according to a TechCrunch report.
The company is building its cloud on specialized inference chips from Nvidia competitors, having struck a $400 million deal to purchase new chips from SambaNova—the first of its kind to finance inference chips with debt—before adding Positron and Cerebras to its list of suppliers.
The company said a major customer contract worth $100 million in annual recurring revenue paved the way for the funding round. CEO Finn Poklevsky anticipated deploying 75 megawatts of computing capacity in 2027, with the potential to reach 200 megawatts.
The round comes as stock prices of specialized compute cloud companies decline, with CoreWeave stock hitting a 12-month low, and Elon Musk predicting a wave of mergers and closures for dozens of companies. Poklevsky says fears of a chip-driven collapse are "largely exaggerated," and that demand for computing power remains strong.
