Azizi Builds Housing for Over 31,000 Workers in Dubai and Sharjah

Azizi Developments has commenced work on worker residential communities in Dubai and Sharjah, which will accommodate over 31,000 workers upon completion, according to the Dubai-based developer.

The largest project is a master community for more than 20,000 residents in the Al Sajaa area of Sharjah, comprising 36 residential buildings, five medical clinics, a pharmacy, and a supermarket, according to the company's statement. The site will feature an 18,945-square-foot training and community center with a capacity for over 400 people, in addition to parking for 155 buses.

The community is located adjacent to over 1 million square feet of Azizi's production facilities in Al Sajaa, including factories for aluminum, carpentry, modular ducting, marble, bathroom pods, and glass-fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC), with precast concrete plants to follow. In Dubai, the company is building accommodation centers in Jebel Ali Industrial Area 1 covering over 137,000 square meters, which will house more than 9,700 workers.

Enabling and shoring works have begun in Jebel Ali, while site preparation in Al Sajaa will start later this month, with phased delivery extending through late 2027. The company did not disclose the cost of the projects.

What do these terms mean?

Workers' accommodation: Residential communities designated for corporate workers, including rooms, services, and essential facilities.

Phased delivery: Executing a project in sequential parts, where each section is delivered upon completion rather than waiting for the entire project to finish.

Precast concrete: Concrete components manufactured in a factory, then transported to the site and assembled, which accelerates construction.
