Eurowings Cuts Winter Schedule by 5% and Cancels Flights to Dubai
Eurowings stated that its jet fuel bill will increase by around 250 million euros this year, leading to a decision to cut its winter schedule by about 5% and cancel flights from Cologne and Stuttgart to Dubai.
Eurowings announced that it is facing an increase of nearly 250 million euros in jet fuel costs above projections this year, and that it will begin cutting its winter flight schedule by about 5%.
The reduction includes canceling flights between Cologne/Bonn and Dubai, as well as others between Stuttgart and Dubai, in a move aimed at reducing expenses amid record fuel price increases.
The company is also studying options to temporarily reduce working hours and plans to cut about 100 jobs by the end of 2028, according to Reuters.
Since jet fuel prices represent a major portion of operating costs, their continued rise is forcing airlines to reconsider their networks and destinations, which could reduce options for travelers on certain routes.
