Taiwan Buys $1.45M Satellite Imagery Analysis System to Monitor China
Taiwan's Ministry of Defense has contracted with ThinkTron for an AI satellite imagery analysis system valued at approximately $1.45 million.

Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense has contracted the Taiwanese-Japanese company "ThinkTron" to supply an AI satellite imagery analysis system worth NT$46.55 million (approximately $1.45 million), according to "UA News" citing the "South China Morning Post".
According to the source, the system is designed to evaluate an area of 100 square kilometers in minutes, comparing new images with historical archives to detect changes and unveil military activity.
The system can detect vessels over ten meters in length, in addition to aircraft, missile launchers, and radar vehicles, granting the Taiwanese military faster movement-monitoring capabilities.
The contract took effect on September 25, with completion planned for late April, at a time when the importance of satellite imagery in military surveillance is growing.
