Riyadh Airport Resumes Operations After Disruption of 7,802 Flights From Saudi Airports

Data published by Gulf News showed that 7,802 out of 17,299 scheduled flights from Saudi airports were canceled or barred from taking off between October 8 and 25, representing 45.1% of all scheduled flights during that period.

King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh accounted for 4,071 out of 4,736 scheduled flights, or 85.96%, before resuming operations on Sunday, October 25, following a two-week closure.

The suspension of certain flights continues beyond the reopening, as Lufthansa Group flights to Riyadh remain suspended until November 18, Scoot flights between Singapore and Jeddah until December 2, and the launch of Delta's flight between Atlanta and Riyadh has been postponed to March 2027.

The figure indicates that more than four out of every ten scheduled flights from Saudi airports during that period did not take off as planned. With some airlines continuing to delay their return, full recovery for certain routes remains postponed beyond the airport's reopening.
