Meta Stock Surpasses All-Time High Following 27% Surge in Ad Revenue

Meta stock reached an all-time high following the release of better-than-expected financial results, highlighted by a 27% year-over-year growth in ad revenue, driven by the use of artificial intelligence to improve ad targeting and boost returns.

The company announced that 3.2 billion people use its products daily across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads—a figure that grants it exceptional capability to collect data and deliver highly precise ad targeting.

Meta continues to pour tens of billions into AI infrastructure, planning capital expenditures of between $60 billion and $65 billion this year, an amount raising investor questions regarding the expected return on these investments.

Regarding virtual and augmented reality projects, Meta continues to drain billions into Reality Labs with no near-term profitability in sight, meaning that the company's financial future remains worryingly dependent on ad revenue, leaving it vulnerable to any changes in privacy laws or competition from new platforms.

What do these terms mean?

Digital Advertising Revenue: The amounts companies pay Meta to display their ads to Facebook and Instagram users—representing more than 97% of Meta's total income.

Reality Labs: A division within Meta dedicated to developing virtual and augmented reality headsets such as Meta Quest, consuming billions of dollars annually without generating profits so far.

AI in Advertising: Data and behavior analysis technologies used by Meta to display the right ad to the right person at the right time, increasing the likelihood of clicks and purchases.
