Walrus jumps 45% despite widespread cryptocurrency market drop
Gained 45% in a single session after launching a gaming console platform. Stood out as the sole gainer amid a wider market decline.

Cryptocurrency token Walrus jumped 45% in a single session following the release of its gaming console platform, Walrus Console. The price rally made the token a rare gainer during a widespread market downturn, according to trading platform KuCoin.
The token, traded under the ticker WAL, gained ground after the platform launch, defying broader losses across digital assets. KuCoin reported that Walrus stood out as the sole positive performer among major tokens during the session.
The price movement occurred alongside broader regulatory and macroeconomic developments in the cryptocurrency sector. The European Banking Authority designated USDC as the European Union's first significant e-money token on October 15, bringing issuer Circle under stricter supervision, according to The Block.
In macroeconomic news, unexpected inflation data pushed the probability of an October Federal Reserve interest rate increase to 51.3%, according to CoinGape reporting on October 15. Meanwhile, Bitcoin maintained its price level above $80,000 despite a six-day decline in the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index, according to KuCoin and Yahoo Finance.
Legislative efforts also saw movement, as the CLARITY Act stalled while a comment window for Securities and Exchange Commission rulemaking on cryptocurrency regulation approaches its October 20 deadline, according to reports from BIT Knowledge Hub and The Block.
