G7 plans exercises against AI attacks on banks
G7 finance ministers and central bank governors agreed on simulation exercises for advanced artificial intelligence attacks on the financial sector to feed into cyber emergency guides.

G7 finance ministers and central bank governors agreed to organize "tabletop" exercises simulating advanced AI cyberattacks on the financial sector, as reported by Dealroom.
The agreement came on the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank meetings in Bangkok, and the exercise results will inform updated versions of cyber emergency guides.
Japan's Finance Minister stated that the plan was approved at the ministerial level, without naming specific banks or setting a definite timeline for execution.
For its part, the Bank of England said it could no longer assume current defenses are immune to AI-powered attacks.
