Brent Drops 1.83% to $113.69 Amid Efforts to Ease Saudi-Iran Tensions

Oil prices fell in Tuesday's session, October 27, 2026, as Brent crude dropped by 1.83% to $113.69 per barrel, and U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude declined by 1.77% to $99.96.

The decline came as mediators moved to push forward talks aimed at de-escalating tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran, reducing fears of a widening conflict in the region and leading to a drop in the risk premium in crude prices.

On the other hand, the Houthis announced carrying out new attacks near Riyadh, indicating that the path to de-escalation remains fragile and that the market is dealing with conflicting signals between diplomacy and field escalation.

As crude dropped, energy company shares and the British FTSE 100 index came under pressure, because lower oil prices reduce profit expectations for energy firms while simultaneously increasing pressure on markets reliant on crude exports.
