IEA Exceeds 400 Million Barrels and Accelerates Diesel Release

The International Energy Agency said that oil releases from member countries' stocks will exceed the previously announced cap of 400 million barrels, according to a report by Xinhua.

The agency explained that about 330 million barrels have been released so far, with nearly 100 million barrels remaining to be released quickly in accordance with each country's national circumstances.

It noted that more than 20 million barrels of diesel will be released as soon as possible.

This move reaffirms the collective response approved by the agency in March 2026 for the Strait of Hormuz crisis, which was described as the largest stock release in the agency's history. All statements were attributed to the IEA and its Governing Board.
