Anthropic Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Singapore and Opens Its Fifth Office in Asia
Anthropic has signed a memorandum of understanding with Singapore's Ministry of Digital Development and Information on AI safety and model evaluation, alongside opening its fifth office in Asia.

Anthropic signed a memorandum of understanding with Singapore's Ministry of Digital Development and Information covering AI safety, security, and model evaluation, alongside opening its fifth office in the Asia-Pacific region in Singapore, according to the "Unite.AI" website.
The MOU was signed on behalf of the ministry by its Permanent Secretary Kai Fong Chng, and on behalf of Anthropic by its co-founder Ben Mann, in the presence of Minister Josephine Teo, according to the same source.
Planned follow-up steps include technical exchanges on evaluation and incident response, AI skills development, and sharing research from the "Anthropic Economic Index."
This comes at a time when major AI companies are expanding in Asia through partnerships with local governments, making official MOUs a gateway to operating within markets prior to full expansion.
What do these terms mean?
