Saudi Arabia Imposes Duties of Up to 38.7% on Chinese Can Lids
Saudi Arabia has imposed definitive duties on Chinese beverage can lids ranging between 15.8% and 38.7% for a period of five years, following an investigation initiated in September 2025.

The General Authority for Foreign Trade in Saudi Arabia has imposed definitive anti-dumping duties on easy-open aluminum beverage can ends, in sizes ranging from 50 to 63 mm, at rates between 15.8% and 38.7%, according to a report by the English-language newspaper Ajel.
The decision was issued based on the Law of Trade Remedies in International Trade and was published in Um Al-Qura newspaper on October 12, 2026, taking effect for five years starting October 13, 2026.
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority is responsible for collecting the new duties, which follow an investigation into dumping practices initiated on September 30, 2025, a measure aimed at protecting local producers from unfair price competition.
Anti-dumping duties set an additional cost on imports sold at prices below their normal value in the export market, raising the cost of imported lids for bottling and beverage companies in Saudi Arabia.
What do these terms mean?
Anti-dumping duties: A customs duty imposed by a state on imports sold at prices below their fair value to protect domestic industry.
Trade remedies: Legal procedures allowing a state to address unfair trade practices such as dumping and government subsidies.
Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority: The Saudi entity responsible for collecting taxes and customs duties on imports and exports.
