Federal Supreme Court Overturns Increased Sentence in Child Neglect Case
The Federal Supreme Court overturned an appellate ruling that increased the penalty for a woman convicted of child neglect, affirming that her appeal alone cannot worsen her position.

The Federal Supreme Court in Abu Dhabi overturned an appellate judgment that increased the sentence of a woman convicted of child neglect under Wadeema's Law.
The Court of Appeal had replaced a community service sentence with a fine of AED 3,000.
The court stated that an appeal filed solely by the convicted person cannot worsen her position, pursuant to Article 241 of the Criminal Procedural Law.
The case was referred back to the competent court for a retrial.
