US Airline Tickets Jump 22.4% as Inflation Hits 3.7%

The Consumer Price Index in the United States rose 3.7% year-on-year in September and climbed 0.6% month-on-month, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data.

Core inflation, which excludes food and energy, recorded a 2.6% increase year-on-year.

In transportation, airline tickets rose 22.4% year-on-year, while gasoline prices jumped 9.1% over the month and 34.2% over the year. Yahoo Finance cited the data as showing hotel prices up 2.3% month-on-month and car rentals up 5.4% month-on-month.

This means the cost of travel rose faster than the general rate of inflation, putting pressure on travelers' budgets and influencing booking decisions.
