Anara Reaches $48 Million in First Closing of Regional Fund

The first closing of the Anara Venture Capital fund reached $48 million on its way to a target of $50 million, according to a fund announcement reported by the Jordan News Agency (Petra).

The round included participation from the Innovative Startups and SMEs Fund (ISSF) with an investment of $4 million, alongside KfW, the European Commission, Dara Holding, and regional family offices, according to the same source.

The fund targets companies in the Seed and Series A financing stages within the Middle East and North Africa region, focusing on financial inclusion, water, healthcare, climate, and education.

The move is significant as it injects new capital into the region's startup ecosystem, while also allocating a portion of the fund's assets to support Jordanian projects, according to Petra.

What do these terms mean?
