TKO Urges Service Properties to Negotiate Hotel Portfolio Deal
TKO urged the board of Service Properties Trust to negotiate regarding its hotel portfolio, saying it had not received a meaningful response to a proposal submitted on October 7.

TKO urged the board of Service Properties Trust to enter into negotiations regarding its hotel portfolio, saying in a statement issued on October 15 that it had not received a meaningful response to a written proposal submitted on October 7, which included a $2 billion cash offer to acquire the portfolio.
TKO based its call on a previous announcement by Service Properties Trust regarding its intention to sell its hotel assets, and confirmed its readiness to provide proof-of-funds documents and deposit $50 million into an escrow account after signing a confidentiality agreement.
The company explained that it is prepared to keep Sonesta as the franchisor for the hotels, and that it will negotiate the purchase price and other terms of the transaction. It acknowledged the possibility of other bids being submitted for Service Properties Trust's hotel assets, noting that it would participate in a competitive sale process.
TKO is headquartered in Aberdeen, South Dakota, and operates in hotel investment.
