TSMC Sends Teams to Inspect Data Center Construction and Power in US
TSMC is dispatching teams to the United States to inspect the progress of data center construction and electricity availability, backed by a budget of up to $64 billion to expand chip manufacturing capacity.

TSMC said it is sending personnel to the United States to inspect the progress of data center construction and electricity availability, ahead of expanding its chip manufacturing capacity, according to a report by The Register.
The company had approved a budget of up to $64 billion to increase its manufacturing capacity, as part of plans to meet the accelerating demand for chips used in artificial intelligence.
In its Q3 earnings call, the company warned of pressures on consumer markets, while maintaining its forecast that demand for artificial intelligence exceeds the available supply.
The company's move reflects concern that electricity and construction projects in the United States may lag behind the pace of factory construction, which could slow down the expansion of the necessary chip infrastructure.
