Momentus Hosts Space Welding Demonstration on Vigoride-9 Spacecraft
Momentus signed a contract with ARCSPACE to host an in-orbit manufacturing payload demonstrating autonomous welding, with a launch planned for 2027.

Momentus has expanded its commercial portfolio with a new contract to host a space manufacturing payload belonging to ARCSPACE.
The payload will perform an autonomous in-orbit welding demonstration aboard Momentus's Vigoride-9 orbital service vehicle.
The current plan indicates the flight will launch in 2027.
The demonstration aims to verify the feasibility of welding in a microgravity environment, supporting future in-orbit assembly and manufacturing operations.
What do these terms mean?
Payload: The equipment or instruments carried by a rocket or spacecraft into orbit to perform a specific mission.
Microgravity Welding: Joining metal pieces together in space where gravity is nearly nonexistent, a process more difficult than welding on Earth.
Vigoride-9: An orbital service vehicle belonging to Momentus, used to carry and operate payloads in space.
ISAM: An acronym referring to In-Space Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing, meaning performing maintenance, construction, or manufacturing operations in orbit instead of on Earth.
