"Guo Tongzhi" Raises 100 Million Yuan to Build a "World Model" for Robotics

Guo Tongzhi, a Chinese company based in Hangzhou, completed an angel funding round worth nearly 100 million yuan, according to 36Kr.

Participating in the round were Peak Investment, Hongfu Assets, Hangzhou Capital, Hangzhou Talent Group, a regional embodied industry fund, and listed companies, according to the source.

The company is developing a "world model" based on physical reflection to guide the movement and maneuvering of robots in the real world, rather than relying on pre-programmed rules.

The company intends to use the funding for model training, hardware development, talent acquisition, and proof-of-concept testing, according to 36Kr.

What do these terms mean?

World Model: An AI model that learns how things behave in the real world, predicting movement outcomes before executing them.

Embodied Intelligence: AI linked to physical bodies such as robots, interacting with the environment rather than being limited to data processing.

Angel Funding Round: Very early-stage funding provided by individual investors or small funds to support a company in its beginnings.

Proof of Concept: A practical test demonstrating that an idea or technology is viable before investing in large-scale production.
