Drones Strike Two Chemical Tankers Off Romania, Seven Missing
Drones targeted the San Marino-flagged chemical tanker "Wine Trader" off the coast of Romania; five of its crew survived while seven remain missing, as a second tanker was hit.

Drones targeted the San Marino-flagged chemical tanker "Wine Trader" 13 nautical miles southeast of Romania's Sulina Channel, Reuters reported via gCaptain. Five of the 12 crew members were rescued, while seven remain missing.
The attacks also struck the Comoros-flagged tanker "Yara J", and NATO reported two additional vessels were targeted. Romanian President Nicușor Dan confirmed that the drones caused the fires.
A military source in the alliance stated that the drones were of Russian origin. The incidents occurred near the waters of NATO and EU member states, raising risks to navigation in the Black Sea and grain and commodity export routes.
Targeting chemical tankers near European ports increases pressure on maritime insurance premiums and the likelihood of rerouting, which raises the cost of transporting essential commodities to markets.
