New Risks in the Gulf Threaten Recovery of Suez Canal Revenues

Suez Canal revenues reached approximately $4.67 billion during the fiscal year 2025/2026, an increase of 23%, according to reports cited by the "SEE News" platform.

Container ship transits through the canal recorded 314 vessels last September, an increase of 64% year-on-year.

The platform stated that renewed threats to shipping traffic in the Gulf threaten to reverse this recovery and potentially prompt shipping companies to reroute once again.

In the same context, trade volume between Egypt and Saudi Arabia reached $7.1 billion in the first half of 2026, at a time when canal revenues remain one of Egypt's most vital sources of foreign currency.
