TUI Cancels Mein Schiff 3 Canary Islands Cruise After Collision in Bremerhaven
TUI canceled the Mein Schiff 3 cruise to the Canary Islands after it collided with two container ships while departing Bremerhaven, with 2,428 passengers and 922 crew members on board without injuries.

TUI has canceled the scheduled Canary Islands voyage of the cruise ship "Mein Schiff 3" due to damage sustained in an incident at the Port of Bremerhaven on the evening of October 25.
The ship collided with a container ship while departing Bremerhaven under stormy conditions, before subsequently drifting into a larger container ship, the "MSC Victorine", according to German police statements to local media. The port authority stated that the collision caused a tear nearly ten meters long in the container ship, while the cruise ship's lifeboats, associated davits, and outer hull were damaged.
There were 2,428 passengers on board who disembarked on Monday morning, in addition to 922 crew members. TUI confirmed on October 26 that no injuries occurred and that the vessel remains docked in Bremerhaven as the damage requires immediate repair work, while experts and technicians assess the extent of the damage to determine whether subsequent voyages will be affected.
TUI stated in its announcement that the decision was "extremely difficult" because passengers were looking forward to the trip, expressing regret for the inconvenience and adding that safety was the reason behind the decision. According to German media, the water police are investigating the ship's captain regarding a potential regulatory infraction.
