Saudi Arabia launches Absher service for arrivals via land ports of entry
The Saudi Ministry of Interior launched the 'Absher Travel for Visitors' service to complete entry procedures electronically before arriving at land ports of entry, which will become mandatory within six months of its launch.

The Saudi Ministry of Interior launched the 'Absher Travel for Visitors' service to facilitate entry at the Kingdom's land ports of entry, according to the ministry's announcement on the X platform.
Available via the Absher application for GCC nationals and other visitors, the service allows users to complete entry requirements digitally prior to arriving at the border, along with the option to register and insure vehicles.
The service was implemented in partnership with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Communications, Space and Technology Commission, the Insurance Authority, the General Directorate of Passports, and Public Security.
The ministry stated that the service will become mandatory within six months of its launch date. The Absher application, launched by the ministry in 2015, is the leading e-government platform for citizens and residents, enabling the completion of government services, appointment bookings, renewals of IDs, passports, and driver's licenses, as well as vehicle registration. The ministry did not disclose details regarding the targeted ports of entry or expected traffic volumes.
