Saudi Arabia Issues Over 2 Million Real Estate Registries, Covering 5 Million Properties

Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing and Chairman of the Real Estate General Authority, Majid Al-Hogail, announced the issuance of more than two million real estate registries in Saudi Arabia, as part of steps to enhance the reliability of property ownership and increase transaction efficiency.

Al-Hogail stated that the scope of real estate registration has expanded to include more than 5 million properties across various regions, according to specific phases and schedules for each region, with the next phase extending to all cities and regions.

He explained that the real estate registration system preserves property history in precise records including its description, legal and physical status, and geographic location, aligning with global best practices in building smart and sustainable cities.

CEO of the Real Estate General Authority, Abdullah Al-Hammad, said that reaching this level reflects the maturity of the sector's regulatory framework and its ability to enforce legislation, while CEO of the National Real Estate Registration Services Company, Mohammed Al-Sulaiman, emphasized that each registry combines the legal force of the title deed with location data and property history.

What do these terms mean?

Real Estate Registry: An official record documenting property data, ownership, and legal and physical status.

Deed: An official document proving property ownership and defining its features and boundaries.

Geospatial Data: Information linking a property to its precise location on the map and its geographic boundaries.
