AST SpaceMobile Expands in Brazil with Spectrum Approval and 4 Partnerships
AST SpaceMobile obtained Anatel approval for S-band spectrum and secondary use of the 700 MHz band in Brazil, and signed agreements with four regional operators.

AST SpaceMobile announced that the Brazilian telecommunications agency Anatel approved granting it S-band spectrum and secondary use of the 700 MHz band in Brazil, according to a statement reported by Yahoo Finance.
The company said it signed agreements with four regional operators and plans to build ground infrastructure to support direct-to-device connectivity services.
Reports by Telecom Paper identified Brisanet and Unifique as partners in the agreement, while the final operational launch date remains pending regulatory approvals and the completion of contract terms.
AST SpaceMobile shares rose 1.43% during trading. The company is betting on the Brazilian market to expand direct satellite-to-cell service.
What do these terms mean?
S-band: A range of radio frequencies used by communication satellites, allowing signal transmission between Earth and space.
Secondary spectrum use: Permitting the use of frequencies primarily assigned to another service, provided it does not cause harmful interference to that service.
Direct-to-device connectivity: Connecting mobile phones directly to satellites without the need for an intermediate ground station.
