Why Meta Conversions Might Rise on November 12 Without Increasing Your Sales
Meta is enabling a new setting in Pixel by default starting November 12 to measure certain purchases on the client device, which may increase reported conversions without any change in sales.

Meta will begin measuring certain website purchases on buyers' phones and computers starting November 12, 2026, through a new Meta Pixel setting automatically enabled for advertisers who take no action. The setting is called “Measure conversions on customer devices” and, according to the company, aims to recover sales that it says currently do not reach campaign reports.
The setting changes how Pixel verifies that an ad led to a purchase, performing part of the verification on the buyer's device instead of Meta's servers alone. Meta explains in the settings panel that measurement takes place on the client device rather than exclusively on its servers, which means adding a second path alongside the current path rather than replacing it.
In a notice to advertisers, Meta stated that the feature recovers lost conversions from campaign reports because they do not return to them for measurement, and that they are measured on the client device using data shared with the business, such as email, along with temporary non-identifying device data. It added that Meta only knows that a purchase occurred and which campaign it should be attributed to, without specifying whether the purchase value and currency are transmitted with the signal.
Advertisers do not need code changes or integration updates; the setting applies to datasets that already send events and can be turned off at any time from each dataset's settings. MetricMaven, which publishes guides on ad measurement, said in a guide published on October 19 that it remains unresolved whether recovered conversions feed delivery and bidding or appear only in reporting, and recommended recording a baseline before November 12, tracking the ratio of platform conversions to actual orders, and running a holdout test before attributing any increase in conversions to Meta.
What Do These Terms Mean?
Meta Pixel: Tracking code placed on a website that sends events to Meta, such as visiting a page or completing a purchase.
Conversion: An action the advertiser wants the user to take, such as purchasing or registering, used to measure campaign success.
On-Device Measurement: Performing part of the data matching process on the user's phone or computer instead of the company's servers alone.
