Saudi Arabia: 977,000 Properties Granted Absolute Legal Status

Yazid Al-Yahya, spokesperson for the Real Estate Registry in Saudi Arabia, stated in an interview with Al-Ekhbariya channel that 977,000 properties have obtained absolute legal status. He explained that this figure represents about half of the total registered properties, out of more than two million issued real estate records.

Al-Yahya added that absolute legal status is one of the most prominent features of the real estate ownership registration system, as it provides the highest level of ownership reliability. This means that ownership data is documented and registered in the official registry, reducing the risk of property-related disputes.

The spokesperson noted that the Real Estate Registry's development of infrastructure and geospatial systems supported and accelerated the property registration process. These systems include positioning tools and digital maps that assist in documenting property boundaries and data.

The issued real estate records, exceeding two million, represent the official database upon which the documentation process relies. The number of properties obtaining absolute legal status constitutes about half of these records, according to the spokesperson.

What do these terms mean?

Real Estate Registry: An official database that registers property ownership, boundaries, and data, issuing documents that prove ownership.

Absolute Legal Status: The highest level of property ownership documentation in the registration system, providing the owner with high reliability in proving their right.

Geospatial Systems: Digital tools and maps that geographically define a property's location and boundaries and support its documentation.
