China's NeuroXess Raises 700 Million Yuan to Develop Brain Interfaces
China's NeuroXess has raised 700 million yuan in a Series B funding round to fund clinical trials and expand manufacturing of brain-computer interface systems.

Chinese brain-computer interface company NeuroXess raised 700 million yuan in a Series B funding round, equivalent to about $105 million. The round was co-led by SDIC Juli, Shenzhen Capital Group, and Qinzhi Capital.
The company stated that the proceeds will be used to fund multi-center clinical trials, regulatory registration applications, expand manufacturing capacity, and develop next-generation products. NeuroXess develops implantable systems combining flexible electrodes with wireless power and data transmission, designed to support decoding movement and speech, as well as controlling external devices.
The company explained that it has completed 65 clinical cases and began a registration trial last July involving nearly 20 hospitals. It is also building a 14,300-square-meter manufacturing facility with a planned annual production capacity of 10,000 systems.
Brain-computer interfaces are among the emerging technologies undergoing increasing clinical trials, as they connect electrical signals in the brain to external devices. These systems require lengthy trials and regulatory approvals before widespread adoption.
What do these terms mean?
Brain-Computer Interface (BCI): A system that reads electrical brain signals and translates them into commands that a computer or prosthetic limb can execute.
Flexible Electrodes: Thin, flexible electrical electrodes implanted near brain tissue to capture neural signals with minimal damage.
Clinical Trial: A study conducted on patients or volunteers to test the safety and efficacy of a treatment or medical device prior to marketing approval.
Series B Funding Round: A stage of funding following the early stage, typically used to expand trials, production, or enter new markets after proof of concept.
