Global ESG Fund Assets Exceed $40 Trillion as Demand Surges
Assets of sustainable ESG investment funds worldwide exceed $40 trillion, driven by growing institutional pressure on companies to disclose their environmental and social impact.

Assets of investment funds linked to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards have passed the $40 trillion mark globally, according to estimates by Bloomberg Intelligence for 2025, signaling a fundamental shift in global institutional investment philosophy.
Major institutional investors are leading this transformation, with BlackRock alone allocating over $1 trillion of its assets under management to ESG strategies, while major European pension funds have committed to fully neutralizing the emissions of their investment portfolios by 2040.
In parallel with this growth, a wave of criticism against "greenwashing" has intensified, as regulatory authorities in Europe and the United States have identified cases of funds marketing themselves as sustainable without meeting adequate disclosure standards.
Analysts expect the volume of assets managed under ESG standards to double over the next five years, especially as younger generations enter the capital market—a generation that places environmental and social considerations at the heart of investment decisions
