Thailand Welcomes 23.94 Million Tourists, Down 4% Amid Sharp Decline in Chinese Visitors
The number of foreign tourists in Thailand fell 4.04% since the start of 2026 to 23.94 million, with arrivals from China dropping 41.56% in the latest week.

The number of foreign tourist arrivals in Thailand decreased by 4.04% from the beginning of 2026 until October 10, reaching 23.94 million visitors, according to data reported by 'Wochenblitz'.
Tourist spending reached 1,165,341 million baht, while the latest week recorded 483,375 arrivals, down 7.49%, indicating a sharp slowdown after the peak season.
The largest decline came from the Chinese market, as the number of Chinese visitors dropped to 78,279, down 41.56% in a single week following the end of 'Golden Week', while arrivals from Russia rose 15.35% and from Taiwan 9.09%.
This decline is significant for Thailand's tourism sector and its competing destinations in Asia, as weak Chinese demand prompts hotels and resorts to lower prices or seek alternative markets to maintain occupancy rates.
