Meta Allows You to Describe What You Want to See on Facebook in Your Own Words

Meta has launched a new tool called "Your Algorithm" that allows Facebook users to describe the topics they want to see more or less of in their feed and Reels in their own words, according to TechCrunch.

The site noted that changes take effect in real time, and the tool can be accessed via the updated three-dot menu on posts, alongside "Interested" and "Not Interested" options and follow-up questions asked to the user.

The source indicated that Instagram launched the feature first, and that the Threads platform offers a similar tool called "Dear Algo" that allows users to guide what they see in their feed.

This trend comes at a time of growing demands for users to be given greater control over the content served to them by algorithms.

What do these terms mean?

Algorithm: A software system that ranks the content shown to a user based on their behavior and preferences.

Feed: The main page displaying updated posts to the user.

Reels: Short vertical video clips featured by platforms for quick engagement.

Real time: Executing the change immediately as it is made, without waiting or restarting the application.
