Suitability Trumps Follower Count in Influencer Selection
Suitability takes precedence over follower count when selecting influencers, as audience fatigue reshapes brand strategies rather than ending influencer marketing.

Suitability now trumps follower count when choosing influencers, as brands reprioritize rather than abandon influencer marketing, according to a report published by Marketing Dive.
The Association of National Advertisers (ANA) predicted that ad spending in the creator economy in the United States will reach $43.9 billion in 2026.
eMarketer found that 58% of consumers bought a product based on an influencer's recommendation. Conversely, more than half of content creators with 500,000 followers or more say there is a gap between what brands request and what their audience expects.
This indicates that brands are now seeking a relevant audience and persuasiveness rather than searching for the largest follower count, a shift in strategy rather than an end to influencer marketing.
